from the "winding down" dept.

Tuesday morning in Flores... and in just 2 days I'll be back in Seattle. Strange to think that its almost over. But it was great, relaxing and cheap!

We went to Tikal yesterday, which was nice. Except it was bleedin' hot. Got some nice snaps, though.

The bus back to the city was bouncy. We were in the back, and each time the bus hit a pothole, we went flying into the ceiling. Woo hoo!

Last night we discovered a small place to eat that offered great pizza. And the local news was on TV -- lots of blood and guts and protests. All is quiet here.

We're going to hang for another day... exploring Santa Elena, the much poorer sister town of Flores. Flores is on an island in Lake Peten, connected via a causeway to Santa Elena. We'll walk over there for a photo safari and seek out the absolute worst dive bars that we can find. But during the daylight hours only.

I may hit the bank for a couple more Quetzals, as I am getting low. Still, our hotel is like 5 US a night. Hahahaha!

Weather continues to be hot and humid. And its only 10am.

More from Belize tomorrow...

Cheers!
