Today marks six years since my hip replacement. All good, except the other hip is definitely starting to go. And, thanks to the coronavirus, there'll be no hip replacement #2 this year.

And so it goes.

Greetings from Guatemala!

I guess I should be writing more about my experiences here. So, here goes:

I'm currently in a small town on the shores of Lake Atitlan.

Guatemala has taken the situation very seriously. As of this morning (3/29), there are 34 cases in the country. The president (a doctor!) appears on TV at least once a day to give updates.

The country is under lock-down:

- all public transportation banned
- borders closed (you can leave via Mexico or Belize, but can't come back)
- airports closed
- nationwide curfew from 4pm to 4am (just extended to April 12)
- essential shops/markets are open but only until noon

There is no panic. The tiendas (shops) are fully stocked... including toilet paper. There is lots of fresh fruit and veg available around town.

Our elevation is 5000ft, so that means the weather is perfect. Generally 25C during the day and 15C at night. We're in the middle of dry season, so no rain. But the farmers are going great guns with water pumped from the lake.

The power and internet are solid and I have my own small house. I have some emergency supplies, just in case.

In terms of work, I'm doing OK. I've had a couple of out-of-the-blue gigs. But long term? Who knows.

Ho ho ho!

Poor little Roadspill. Here for me (and you) all these years but now pretty much ignored. Blame Facebook and Instagram.

Long story short: still travelling. Still enjoying being a digital nomad. Although more work would be nice!

It may be Independence Day in America, but for me, I'm marking five years of freedom from hip pain day. Who would have thought five years would fly by like they have?

The sequel (Total Hip Replacement 2) is in pre-production... but I won't be getting a new new hip for while yet. It simply doesn't hurt.

And so it goes!

How time flies...

Sixteen? Roadspill is 16 years old? Old enough to drive?

Man I feel old.

I made it through a less than enjoyable 2018, mostly unscathed. Eschewed the big drink-fest last night for a decent sleep and an early morning rise. The reward? No hangover and this:

I've been here for a few weeks already, so I might as well make it official.

I'm back in San Pedro la Laguna, Guatemala for a spell.

It's the rainy season, but it certainly isn't very rainy.

Also, I have an awesome housesit.
